The New Carnival from Kia makes its debut.

The all-new Kia Carnival MPV (multi-purpose-vehicle) is the latest vehicle from one of the most successful brands in recent history. The replacement for the outgoing Kia Sedona is positioned to take over and expand its predecessor's successful reach. In other words, it is pushing the envelope for the brand.

It is on sale now at Napleton's Northlake Kia in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.

What is the 2022 Kia Carnival?

The Kia Carnival is the first Kia vehicle to take the Multi-Purpose Vehicle to the next level. Following the Kia Sedona's successful run, Kia designers went back to the drawing board to improve on what was undeniably a hit. The result is a new vehicle that features three rows for up to eight passengers. So innovative, the Carnival is staking a claim for the territory between the SUV and the family hauler. An added bit of news shows that it's the first Kia product to display the brand's new logo on its sculpted hood. If you were to think about it, you realize it pushes the boundaries of the MPV range in much the same way the Kia K5 did for sports sedans.

A single-source front-wheel-drive powerplant motivates the new Kia Carnival: the Kia 3.5-liter GDI (Gas, Direct-Injection) V6 engine mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. Producing a best-in-class 290 horsepower at 6,400 rpm and 262 lb-ft of torque at 5,000 rpm, the Carnival can tow up to 3,500 pounds.

It shares the same platform as the new Kia Sorento and the sporty Kia K5. It features expanded use of hot-stamped parts for increased tensile strength and torsional stiffness, resulting in better driving dynamics and lighter weight. There is a new emphasis on reducing Noise, Vibration and Harshness (NVH). As a result, the Carnival includes increased use of sound-absorption and insulating materials to minimize wind, road and engine noise.

New aerodynamic tuning help to smooth the airflow over the front wheels and mirrors for improved fuel economy.

Refined and sophisticated, the new Kia Carnival interior looks like it belongs in a corporate jet. Slide-Flex seating for 8-passenger versions allow multi-configurable layouts including a sliding second row seat which allows the front passenger easy access to a baby or child sitting in the second row. It can later convert to a functional table.

Innovation continues with standard hands-free opening power sliding doors with Smart Key and the Smart Power Liftgate with auto-close (EX and above models).

For parents, there is the Passenger Talk cabin intercom system. It's one of our favorite features to carry on conversations with people in the second and third-row through an intercom system. Just think how "Don't make me stop this car" sounds through that!
